“The most basic of all human needs is the need to understand and be understood.” – Ralph Nichols
Jane is an experienced facilitator and psychologist. She knows that the ability to communicate and connect with others at work will make you happier and will help build a sense of community and gain the support of others when you need it.
The origin of effective relationships resides within ourselves. It begins with our ability to value others and use interpersonal skills to demonstrate that. The power of true listening is greatly underestimated, and in our fast-paced world is a forgotten art.
Jane specialises in helping people to overcome interpersonal conflict through mediation and has a very approachable style of mediation that quickly establishes the trust of the parties and ensures that the process is safe, respectful and focused on reaching a point where there is the possibility for the conflict to de-escalate and a problem-solving approach be taken to resolving the underlying issues.
In the mediations that Jane facilitates, the art of listening is introduced and often this leads to hearing information that was either not heard or misperceived. In this way, participants are often able to heal and restore their working relationships.
Jane has 8 years’ experience as a restorative justice convenor, a process that attempts to restore one of the most damaging of human conflict, the offender of crime and the person hurt by that crime. Jane is also a psychologist (provisional) working in private practice seeing a range of clients for depression, anxiety, workplace conflict and stress, life goals ad planning. Jane is passionate about helping her clients reach their full potential.
